Look A Like Meter
HA! EVERYONE says that Leyton is Russell's mini-me. Here is high-tech proof that the kid has 1/2 of me in him too!

Our Last Appointment....
Well, we just got home from our last doctor's appointment before Harrison's arrival. Russell couldn't join us today because he had to wrap up things at work before taking time off next week. So...it was a tad chaotic with just Leyton and myself. It starts off with us sitting in the waiting room. Leyton loves to buckle and unbuckle the straps on the stroller so that was keeping him pretty occupied. Then, he saw the telephone on the table and could hardly control himself. He wanted to push all of the buttons. I told him that we couldn't play with the phone. He didn't, but that didn't stop him from talking about the phone and it's buttons for the rest of the time. It was so tempting that he would just stand right by it and stare. Finally I distracted him with his Animals book. It makes all kinds of fun sounds...pigs snorting, ducks quacking, sheep baaing, and roosters doing whatever it is that roosters do. LOUDLY. I am sure everyone was super annoyed...I know the lady next to me trying to talk on her cell phone was bothered. Hey, I figure most of them are there because they are pregnant and I was just helping to prepare them. Just about this time Leyton lets out a HUGE man toot. I thought the animal noises were loud. Then he proudly yells "Thank you!" Poor guy...he gets thank you and excuse me confused a lot! :) I just had to giggle. Everytime the door would open he would yell "Marsha." That made me laugh too. Finally, we go back to see the doctor. He continues to toot...and stink up the whole room. You better believe that I told the doctor about it as soon as he walked through the door! Other than that the appointment went as expected. I am still 1 cm dilated but this time he told me that my cervix is very soft. He is not on call this weekend so I hope to make it until Monday. We'll see....

38 Week Update
I just got home from my 38 week doctor's appointment. I thought for sure I was at the hospital to stay. I thought they would admit me for one of 2 reasons.
1. I had dilated so much that I would be going into labor today. or.........
2. They watched me drag my right leg into the office and decided to perform sciatic nerve surgery right then and there.
Nope. In fact, it was so uneventful that it was almost disappointing. Apparently, I haven't dilated any more since last week....even though I have thought I was going into labor every night this week. AND....apparently, I am not the only pregnant lady who is experiencing this horrible nerve pain in my back. Who knew? I guess it is more common than I suspected. And I thought I was special. Anyway....looks like Harrison is most likely going to stay put until Monday. I go again on Friday to make sure, but that is what it looks like right now. I'll keep you posted.

Father & Son
Look at Me Now!

The main reason we started Leyton in school is because of our experience at our church nursery. This kid cries the whole time we are at church. And when I say cry...I mean CRY. He lays on the floor and weeps for the full two hours. Talk about break your heart. Well, we knew that something had to be done. We knew that it would not get better if we didn't put him in situations for it to get better. Sooooo....what did we do? We signed him up for school at the Grapevine Creative Learning Center for 2 days a week. I am so HAPPY we did. Look at him here...Big smiles! 9:00-2:30...that is a LONG day at school. I think it has helped him adjust quickly though. (or quicker than I thought) He likes his teachers, he loves music time, and he even takes a nap there! He is not a big fan of eating with all the other kids. He just sticks with his Goldfish when he's there...then tells me "Mommy, let's eat" as soon as he gets in the car. He paints me beautiful pictures that hang on my refrigerator. He is doing pretty darn good and it sure makes this mommy's heart feel much better about the whole thing.

We're getting close!
We had our 36 week appointment today and it went great! We were happy to get a sonogram and see Harrison's sweet face. It looks like he is going to have chubby cheeks like his brother. He was very active and moving around a lot so it was hard to get a good look at him. My doctor plans on inducing me on September 29th, so it looks like we already know his birthday unless he decides to arrive earlier than that. I still feel like there is so much to do to prepare for his arrival...but I just keep reminding myself that it will get finished. We are so excited to meet him!

Waddle
Everytime I have ever seen a swayed back pregnant lady clutching her lower back, I have thought to myself..."c'mon give me a break!" or "how dramatic!" It really bugged me when they would sit down all weird...leaning into it with their legs spread apart. NOT NECESSARY!(or so I thought) Guess what? I am eating my words! (not the first time) This pregnancy has been filled with aches and pains...starting very early. My latest and greatest ailment is this crazy nerve pain in my lower back. It takes EVERYTHING inside of me to not drag my right leg behind me. Seriously. I do pretty much drag it around the house...and in public I just do this waddle thing---kinda more of a leg swing. I take the stairs one at a time, and I am certain that my legs do not cross when I sit down anymore. I am sure there are many girls, much like my(old)self, rolling their eyes at me when they see me waddle by....

Things they say--
I think it is universal that every parent has a story about the funny things their kids say. I'm no different. I'm going to share it even though you will not be able to grasp just how cute it is until you have seen it in person. I actually have it vidoetaped and I will post it when I figure that out.
Leyton loves blueberries. He thinks they are yummy. We even talk about it...and it goes like this----
Mommy---"What are you eating?"
Leyton--"boobies"
Mommy----"what?"
Leyton--"BOOBIES!"
Mommy---"Do you like blueberries?"
Leyton--"Like boobies!" "Boobies yummy!"

Can't Sleeep--
It's 3:30 in the morning and I just can't sleep. Here are the reasons why...
1. baby is moving non-stop
2. have to pee
3. ac is broken upstairs so Leyton is in a pack n play in our room
4. have to pee
5. can't quit worrying about things I can't change
6. have to pee
7. can't get comfortable
8. have to pee
9. my back hurts
....and did I mention that I have to pee?!?!?
ALL THE TIME...to the point where it is almost comical. I know pregnancy is beautiful...a blessing...a gift from God, but right now I am ready to pull my hair out! And to be honest, I will feel this way until October 1st when I am reminded how wonderful pregnancy really is after seeing my little guy's face. Until then I will be spending most of my day (and nights!) in the bathroom!

What's up?!?!?
Okay...so I am thinking I am pretty much caught up to where we are now. Now, I will stay on top of this whole blogging thing instead of jamming almost 2 years into 2 days of blogging. I will post some recent pictures of him starting "school" soon. He is going on Tuesdays and Thursdays...last week was his first time. He wasn't too thrilled about it on the first day. In fact, he was the only one who cried the entire time. ugh! He did better the second day though. We still had some tears at drop-off and pick-up, but it was a big improvement!
We have been busy trying to get Harrison's room finished. It is coming along. I will post some pics when we are finished. I still can't believe he will be here in less than 4 weeks. I am excited to meet this new little guy but want him to stay put until October 1st!

Haircuts and Suckers...
Happy 4th of July!
Golf Cart Ride...

One of the highlights of visiting Mimi and Poppy is getting to go on golf cart rides around the neighborhood. Leyton loves it! He constantly asks to go on a ride. If anyone even mentions the word "golf cart" he goes running for the door. We drive through a path surrounded by trees and pretend like we are driving through the jungle. We see elephants, snakes, lions, tigers, and monkeys! I sometimes really wonder if he sees them! Then we drive past some gardens that grow tomatoes. We visit the ducks and feed them at the marina. We drive past a huge turtle that we have named Mertle. I have seen her before but Leyton never has. He still wants to visit Mertle every time though. When we don't see her, he reminds me that she has went night night. He loves honking the horn and taking the key in and out too. Funny how some of the littlest things provide the most entertainment!
Children's Museum

Yes, I left off at Halloween....fast forward a couple months. Leyton is about 13 months in these pictures. I know, I don't have his 1st birthday pics on here...take my word, he looked cute at his party. It was a football theme and we had it at the house. He played---ate cake---got tired at the end. Basically your typical 1 year old birthday party. Soooooo...these pictures are taken at the Children's Museum in Houston. It is located in The Woodlands mall. Leyton loved it there, and everything was just his size!!

Halfway there....
So...I said I was REALLY going to do this blogging thing. So far I have Leyton's first year (almost)completed. Now...one year to go until I am caught up. Just in time for Harrison to arrive! :)
Oh and to see the original blog that Britta made for me...

Thanks, Britta!

Leyton's Buddies...
The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo

Pat Green...with my sister and her husband Geoffrey. It always makes me feel old. Every year I wonder why the girls shorts are getting shorter and the guys shirts are getting tighter. The concert is great, but checking out all the college kids is where I find the most entertainment. Am I really that much older?!? Nah, but that DECADE makes a big difference!
Another cousin....
Cade---he seriously loves Leyton so much. I left him to make sure that Leyton wouldn't roll off the couch while I went to go grab a diaper. When I came back in the room, Cade was standing there with pee all over him. He didn't budge and still had his hands on Leyton making sure he didn't take a tumble. Now that is LOVE!
My Cousin, Cole!

Our Baby Boy!
Okay....we gotta backtrack now. November 1, 2006. That is the day that Leyton North Roberts entered the world! Chubby cheeks. Bald head. Oh so perfect! I didn't know it until that day, but our lives would never ever be the same!
I am REALLY going to try to do this!

Okay....my sweet sweet friend Britta created a blog for our family. I could not even figure out how to get into that blog, so I have decided to try to start from scratch. I know, I know....it's not that hard. I am SOOO not good on a computer though! I still develop pictures at Walgreens. I have decided that I am REALLY going to try to do this! I was especially motivated when I heard that I could turn this into a blog book. How great is that? Something for the kiddos to keep when they are all grown up. So...here it goes!
