Life is Good! (and exhausting!)

I do hereby solemnly swear to not be a nap skipper any more this summer.

Today Erin-Elizabeth took 2 fistfuls of my hair and pulled...and would not let go. (while I was picking Leyton up from VBS.)

Harrison cried all the way to the car after our swimming adventure because he was too tired to walk.

And Leyton thrashes his body around and whimpers whenever I give him an answer that he doesn't want to hear.

It is hard to fit naps in with all the fun things we like to do...and I feel like I am almost always waking someone up because we have to get somewhere. I decided today that I am going to schedule a little less and let these kiddos get a scheduled nap. For all of our sakes. :)

SEVENTEEN!

Happy 17 months EE!
You have really seemed to grow up this month. You had your first haircut! You rocked that baby mullet but we thought we'd trim up the back to have the top catch up with it sooner!

You love to dance with your brothers and mimic their dance moves to the fish brushing his teeth song. We have it on video. I love your moves!

You try to say most things that I say....when you're in the mood. I know a lot of what you say on your own, but I'm not so sure that anyone else would.

You know where lots of your body parts are....still seeing you search for your belly button is my favorite. And if you get a little confused about what I am asking, you always just stick your tongue out.

You love swimming. I put you under the water and do a few Emler strategies (that I remember from when Leyton was a baby). You LOVE it. You come up, giggle, and do the sign for more.

You straight up twirled when I put a nightgown on you for the first time. Oh my cuteness.

You love wearing bracelets.

I run to you when you get hurt because you have the MOST realistic, awful, gut-wrenching cry. I seriously think we will be heading to the emergency room every time I hear it. And, it's usually pretty fake. I don't know how you do it. Forget gymnastics. Forget soccer. You are going to drama classes, kid.

You are funny and animated....and we all enjoy having you in our lives so much! You definitely brighten a room....and you've brightened our lives more than we can say!

xoxo...we love you, pretty pretty.

Lots & Lots of Stuff.

It seems like forever since I have written on the blog. I have thought about it a lot, but my camera is not working so I knew that I wouldn't be able to include pictures. I decided to go ahead with what's going on anyway.

Summer. The Saturday after summer break started, I drove the kids halfway to meet Mimi and switch cars. I was sad to leave the kiddos but very excited about my vacation. Russell was already in Cabo with his guy friends for a bachelor party. The switch off went perfectly. The boys were so excited to go to Mimi and Poppy's house....and to see their cousins and Keyo. Erin-Elizabeth was who I was worried about, but she didn't skip a beat. She loved all the entertainment and loved to be in the middle of all of the action. Plus, she is obsessed with YaYa...my parent's dog. They had a wonderful time! Lots of quality time with their cousins, EE got her first haircut (I told my mom they could do it without me), they got their pictures taken, Chuck-E-Cheese, and lots and lots of swimming. They said Harrison did about 250 cannonballs a day, but never without yelling "Caaaannnooonnnballlll" first. Keyo did a great job helping them with their swimming. They came back home sooooo much better than when they left. I would call them from Cabo everyday and they would tell me about how much fun they were having. It made my heart happy and made our tropical vacation even better.

Our tropical vacation. Cabo. Kristin and I flew out early Monday morning. We got there and I can honestly say it was perfect. It was great to be able to spend quality time with Russell and our friends. It was great to only be responsible for myself...nothing else to worry about. We spent most days sipping drinks by the pool. Most nights eating delicious food...followed by drinks and dancing. Sleep. Wake up. Repeat. We also went ziplining one day. I would have been content doing 1 zipline. There were 9! That's insane. The ziplining part was pretty cool, but we had major hikes to get to each one. I didn't even bring my tennis shoes bc I was NOT going to work out. Man, all we kept saying is that we could be sipping drinks by the pool. Instead? Noon in Cabo...hiking in flip flops....not my idea of a tropical paradise! One highlight from our trip is seeing Louis Van Amstel from Dancing with the Stars. I saw him checking in to the hotel and I told Russell that I was hoping to run into him again. A couple of days later Kristin and I were walking in from the pool and saw him and his crew in the hot tub. I went and told him that my mother is a huge fan and asked if I could have my picture with him. He told me to hop in....Kristin snapped pictures and they are hilarious. It looks like him and I are long lost BFF's. I told him that I am sorry to bother him on his vacation and he said it was no bother and that it was my vacation too. Very nice guy. I encourage everyone to vote for ol' Louis on next season of DWTS. That next morning he was teaching a dance fitness class at our hotel....wish I would've had my tennis shoes!

Could not wait to see my babies. We flew in on Saturday and drove to meet my mom halfway for the big switch. It was wonderful to see them and hold them and kiss them. They seemed bigger.

Since then summer has officially began.
Swimming.
Ice cream eating.
Nap skipping.
Snuggling.
Late sleeping.
Cannonballing.
Popsicle eating.
Friend playing.
Gym going.
Wipeout watching.
Living room dancing.
SUMMER!!
Loving every minute of it! (minus the 2 days of tummy bug mommy had)

Today after we played and swam at the gym, the boys went with daddy to get their Six Flags season pass. They had a great time riding some rides and I loved hearing about all the fun they had!

The title of the post is LOTS AND LOTS of stuff. Here's the second half....
A couple things about Leyton....
He has been loving dress up. He wears a police costume and a pirate costume....and he also likes his batman cape. He has us call him Officer Leyton when he is in the police costume and he throws us in jail. He tells me that he is very serious because policemen are very serious. I tried to tell him that policemen are nice guys whose jobs are to help us, but he's pretty much enjoying pretending to be a cop on a power trip. He told me that he wants to grow up to be a police man. Then he asked me if I would live in his house. I told him that I didn't think his wife would like it if his mother lived with them. He said, "But mom, YOU are going to be my wife." Love him.

He loves to scare Harrison. The boys shower together at night and Harrison (strangely enough) became afraid of the wall in our shower. Leyton says, "You scared of the man with two small eyes, no nose, and a long mouth behind the shower wall?" Well, he is now.

Harrison----

He got in a little trouble at the gym for licking his brother. Weird. I thought she said kicking.....but nope licking. Don't know where this has come from. I'm just glad he's only licking his brother and not any other kids.

He is doing such a fantastic job swimming. He went from being pretty scared of the water to loving it already this summer. SO proud of him.

Erin-Elizabeth---

She answers my questions now with a yes or a no. I especially like when she says yes. :)

She says "up please" about 100 times a day....I pick her up about 99 of those times.

Which leads me to the last tidbit about EE. She's spoiled. Rotten. I cannot get enough of her.

Happy Summer!
